Creative Ways To Decorate Your Singapore Home With Flowers

Flowers are a simple decoration to freshen up your home in a quick and inexpensive way. They’re the perfect way for you to add a little life to your home on a limited budget. Here are a few ideas on how to decorate your Singapore home with flowers:

Consider The Choices: Real or Faux?

Real

There are a plethora of flower choices you could use to decorate your home. If you decide to go with real flowers over faux flowers, you’ll be limited to what kinds are currently in season. Using real flowers will be the better option if you’re trying to bring freshness and warmth to your interior. They can make the space smell fresher and bring a sense of life to the room. Real flowers will obviously not have a very long lifespan, but there are always different kinds in season. This makes using real flowers an excellent way of switching up your décor without having to redesign.

Lilies, hydrangeas and tulips are all excellent choices that will work with any style home. However, if you decide to go with real flowers, you will want to be sure that they are not within reach of any pets or children. Certain flowers like lilies can be poisonous to pets, so make sure that you keep them out of reach if you do choose to use them.

Faux

Artificial flowers are perfect for those who want to decorate with flowers without the hassle of tending to them. They’re very low maintenance and incredibly easy to repurpose. Faux flowers are a great choice for permanent decorative pieces like flower wall art. You can even find some floral designs with patterns and textures that are quite distinctive if you decide to go with the artificial look.

Faux flowers are a turnoff to some homeowners due to their unrealistic look, which can come across as tacky in some uses. And even though artificial flowers are much lower maintenance than real flowers, they will require periodic dusting. Still, if you’re looking to do an interior project, faux flowers are going to be much more sensible than real ones.

Decorative Vases

The most traditional way of decorating your home with flowers is to fill a vase with a bouquet of different types of flowers. Whatever vase you use should work with the flowers, so if you’ve got an antique vase you love, try to find flowers that match it. If not, you can buy a vase that matches the style of the flowers that are currently in season. Large decorative vases work well as bold kitchen centrepieces, while smaller vases fit better on end tables or in bathrooms.

Arranging the bouquet in a vase takes a little bit of skill. You first need to consider the vase’s size, arranging the flowers at different lengths so that they can all be seen. Start by placing the foliage before the flowers, and then work in a circle. Remove any leaves from the flowers that will touch the water in the vase, and be sure to change out the water every three days.

Flower Centrepieces

Every kitchen or dining room table needs a centrepiece. Not only does it provide something for everyone to look at, but it also gives you a bit of easily interchangeable décor that you can swap out to keep things fresh. You can go the traditional route if you like with a vase full of fresh flowers such as daisies or lilies. Or, if you’re looking for something a bit more original, you can hold your flowers in an ornate pitcher or even old glass bottles.

Another popular centrepiece option using flowers is a floral wreath, which you could lay flat in the middle of the table. Whatever centrepiece option you choose, you’ll most likely use fresh flowers. However, realistic looking artificial flowers can be a satisfactory replacement to save you time and money.

Combining Candles And Flowers

Decorative candles pair beautifully with flowers, giving your home a sense of luxury and relaxation. Flowers are flammable, however, so you’ll need to exercise caution if you plan on lighting the candles. Make sure they’re an acceptable distance apart whenever you light the candles.

Or, if you want a safe way to use them together, you can submerge your flowers in a clear vase full of water. Then, you can place a lit candle on top of the water to float. This is an incredibly unique way of showing off candles and flowers together without risk of them catching on fire.
