Having several generations living together ensures continuity and the passage of wisdom, knowledge and love from one individual to another. At the same time, sharing a living space with parents and grandparents creates distinctive challenges.
These challenges can be overcome successfully through the selection of the right home interior design.
If you’ve just acquired a brand new Hougang RiverCourt 3gen flat, you’re probably wondering what choices to make for interior upgrades. The Home Guide team has you covered. Using our know-how and BTO residential renovation background, we put together a visualisation to reveal all of the beauty and functionality hidden within the space.
Interior Design Balance to Meet Distinctive, Multi-Generational Needs
Living with your aging parents means you should be putting emphasis on accessibility and safety. These are two important elements to account for when designing a 3gen flat. Home Guide’s team has weaved both of these essentials in our interior design visualisation. We believe that the resulting outcome is both beautiful and functional enough to meet the diverse needs of all apartment inhabitants.
Our idea for the living room is warm and clean. The large window dominates the landscape and turns into its focal point. Natural light and the beige/brown of wooden furniture and panelling work together to give the space cosiness and inviting vibes.
The furniture choices are minimal yet comfortable. These allow for effortless cleaning and the maintenance of a clutter-free environment.
Most of our work and inspiration went into the bedroom upgrades.
The master bedroom is dominated by a comfortable bed and storage units. We tried to keep the design as clean as possible, letting the space breathe. We did add one frivolous element that shapes up the character of the room. The geometric design of the wall behind the bed’s headboard looks interesting and it also adds a bit of texture to the other monochromatic visuals.
The other bedrooms in the flat have a simpler and cleaner design. Sufficiently large storage units are incorporated in every single concept once again to keep the clutter at bay.
Moving on to the children’s room – a space of fun and discoveries. Since the room is smaller, we used partitions to create functional areas. The bed is separated from the study zone with a pink, glossy divider that isn’t just functional. It’s also delightfully youthful and fun.
The presentation wouldn’t be complete without the right kind of kitchen.
White dominates the space and we chose two parallel counters to maximise the space. Built-in appliances and sleek cabinetry make all essentials available without eating away from the available room. The large window illuminates the entirety of the kitchen, working well with the white tones and the shiny surfaces.
