The Best of Both Worlds: Colourful Fun and Modern Practicality in Tu Fu Avenue

Practical and functional is in no way indicative of boring and colourless home interior design. Fun and usability can easily come together, fusing the best of both worlds. This artistic, modern and sleek semi-detached landed home in Tu Fu Avenue is the perfect illustration of such a merger beautifully executed by our home interior design studio.

Bright, airy spaces, pops of colour and decorations creating spots of visual interest work together well to create a dynamic, warm and inviting interior.

Entering the house immerses you in its atmosphere right from the start. White panels are utilised to increase the availability of natural light. A shelving unit displays proudly some favourite books and decorative items. The non-symmetrical nature of the unit creates dynamic appeal and brings modern vibes to the interior right off the bat. Wood and grey elements are also introduced to create dynamic visuals, some warmth and a bit of sophistication.

The ground floor living area is so bright and inviting that anyone would be excited to spend hours there. Sleek and clean glass and metal are accompanied by warm wood and various types of fabrics to make the space cosy and very easy to maintain in a pristine condition at the same time. The warm tones of the wood and the sofa are countered by pops of bright blue that make the interior very lively and fun.

The ground floor living area also features large windows to let in a ton of natural light. Long, grey curtains can be drawn to dim the light and create the perfect atmosphere for a family movie night.

A sliding door makes it so easy to silently go out and enjoy a cup of coffee in the open air.

A mixed living room and dining area is positioned strategically on the first floor. The all-white walls, floors and ceiling provide the perfect canvas for the introduction of colourful accessories and pieces of furniture. And do these stand out! A navy sofa acts as a lovely backdrop for some colourful pillows. Bright pink and patterned fabrics make the interior dynamic through the addition of both tone and texture.

Solid wood is available in the living/dining area in two distinct ways. The dining table is chosen for solidity and longevity. The living room coffee table is much more artistic. It displays the beauty, pattern and unique distinctive characteristics of natural wood while also providing a sufficiently large surface for serving drinks, reading or doing some work.

Check out the dining table chairs, as well. While different patterns, textures and colours are not supposed to work well together on paper, this combo is fresh and youthful. It brings a quirky spirit to the place, giving it a ton of character and distinctiveness.

The dry kitchen is executed in white but it also brags a couple of contrasting black and metallic elements. Built-in cupboards and an oven space streamline the appearance of the dry kitchen and make it easy to clean. A kitchen island with three modern chairs enable a quick meal in the kitchen or social interactions while delicious meals are being prepared.

The wet kitchen carries a bit more warmth with a classic combination of white, black and beige. The large window above the sink illuminates the space and also makes the functional areas well-lit. Clean and minimalist backsplash, as well as a white tiled floor create the illusion of more space in this relatively small wet kitchen.

A honeycomb design on the wall of the common bathroom makes the interior distinguishable. Carried out predominantly in sleek grey, the common bathroom also carries a degree of warmth introduced through the use wooden cabinet. A modern sink and a shower behind a glass separation complete the design.

A similar concept is carried out in the master bathroom but it’s somewhat elevated from the common bathroom area. Natural stone, wood and marble-like finishes make the décor highly sophisticated. A hanging vanity supports two sinks to simplify morning and evening hygienic rituals. A large mirror and a glass shower separator complete the picture.

The house also brags a junior bathroom space where warm tones dominate, making the space inviting. The patterned tiles on the floor and the walls conceal imperfections and make the junior bathroom easy to clean. The backlit mirror above the sink is probably the most intriguing and distinguishable décor element. The colour of the light contributes to the overall warmth of the space.

Blue is the dominant colour in the space occupied by children in the house. We chose several shades of blue to make the design dynamic and cool. Once again, wooden trimmings and shelves accompany the main design concept to let some warmth inside. Since the room is narrow, built-in storage is utilised to keep order inside without taking away from the available space. A bed and desk complete the picture, giving the room’s inhabitant the essential pieces of furniture.

The walk-in wardrobe has been conceptualised as a clean, multi-purpose space. A narrow desk and a matching chair transform the front portion of the room into a study. The wardrobe itself hides behind mirrored doors. Not only are these great for checking out how outfits look, they also create the illusion of more space by reflecting light and the whiteness of the walk-in wardrobe wall.

We allowed the outdoor spaces to shine for themselves. Minimalist design choices were made to create comfort without altering the natural ambiance. White, black and grey were used to create visual consistency and match the interior design. Glass elements were also incorporated to make the façade of the house sleek and modern.
